Terms of Use for CollegeBookRenter.com
The following document is a list of the policies and procedures that CollegeBookRenter.com will require all users to follow while on our site. If there are any questions concerning our terms of use, you may contact us using our Customer Service page. Our customer service department is available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 3:00pm, Eastern Standard Time. We appreciate you renting your textbooks from CollegeBookRenter.com.
When using our site, you agree to and will follow our policies. The policies include:
- You will not use our site in order to collect personal information of other customers.
- No user shall provide information acquired from our site to a third party.
- No user shall attempt to gain access to our computer and automated systems.
- Users shall not be allowed to create several different accounts through the use of multiple email addresses.
The following policies will be listed in accordance with CollegeBookRenter.com rental process: Rent, Receive, and Return! All textbook rentals and purchases by CollegeBookRenter.com shall be made on the following terms and conditions.
Rent
List Price
The list prices for textbooks found on CollegeBookRenter.com are determined from a myriad of sources to include several of experienced wholesale textbook companies, as well as several on-line textbook retailers.
Pricing Error
If a textbook is priced incorrectly on our website due to a programming error or an error in pricing from one of our trusted third party sellers, CollegeBookRenter.com will have the right to cancel that order. If your credit card has already been charged, then CollegeBookRenter.com will immediately issue a credit to your credit card account.
Credit Cards
CollegeBookRenter.com accepts MasterCard and Visa. There is no surcharge for using your credit card on our site. Please provide the same number and address that is listed with you financial institution. Providing us with incorrect credit card information will cause a delay with your order. Once your order is accepted, you agree to refrain from canceling your credit card account used to rent our textbook(s) until they are returned. In the event, your credit card account used to rent your textbook(s) is canceled prior to the return of our textbook(s), you agree to immediately contact us.
Sales Tax
Each state has its own laws governing the charge of sales tax and/or rental tax for college textbooks. College Book Renter charges sales and rental taxes as applicable based on your state's requirements. Some states require verification that the textbook will be used for higher education. Customers ordering from those states will be required to confirm such usage.
Trusted Third Party Sellers
If CollegeBookRenter.com is unable to fulfill an order internally, then we will use Trusted Third Party Seller to find the requested textbook(s). If your order is fulfilled by a Third Party Seller, then your textbook(s) will not arrive in a CollegeBookRenter.com package. You will also be notified via email if your order is fulfilled by a third party seller in order to eliminate any confusion. All textbook rentals will be returned to CollegeBookRenter.com regardless of who ships you the textbook(s).
Receive
Shipping
All orders fulfilled by CollegeBookRenter.com will be shipped by FedEx from our warehouse. Any orders fulfilled by our Trusted Third Party Sellers may be shipped by USPS, FedEx, or UPS. CollegeBookRenter.com and our third party sellers will not guarantee when an order will arrive. The customer must understand that all shipping timelines offered by CollegeBookRenter.com are an estimate.
If your package is not received within the estimated shipping timeline, please contact our customer service department immediately. If the package’s tracking number states “Delivered” to address you provided CollegeBookRenter.com and the package cannot be located, then you will be charged the full list price of the textbook(s).
UPS Tracking Terms and Conditions
The UPS package tracking systems accessed via this Web Site (the "Tracking Systems") and tracking information obtained through this Web Site (the "Information") are the private property of UPS. UPS authorizes you to use the Tracking Systems solely to track shipments tendered by or for you to UPS for delivery and for no other purpose. Without limitation, you are not authorized to make the Information available on any web site or otherwise reproduce, distribute, copy, store, use or sell the Information for commercial gain without the express written consent of UPS. This is a personal service, thus your right to use the Tracking Systems or Information is non-assignable. Any access or use that is inconsistent with these terms is unauthorized and strictly prohibited.
Return
Returns at the end of your rental period
CollegeBookRenter.com makes returning textbooks easy and free!
- Log on to Collegebookrenter.com account using your email address and password
- Select the textbooks you want to return and click on the Print Shpping Label button
- Print off the two packing slips for your order and the UPS shipping label.
- Tape the UPS return shipping label to the package being used to return the textbook(s).
- Make sure the packing slip is placed in the return package
- Drop the package at any UPS location and the rest is history!
If the textbook is returned to CollegeBookRenter.com in USPS priority mailer, then the customer will be charged the entire return shipping cost.
If your textbook(s) is not returned and or a UPS Return Label has not been generated by the last day of your rental period, then your credit card will be charged a 15 day extension fee.
If your textbook(s) is not returned and or a UPS Return Label has not been generated by the last day of your 15 day extension, then your credit card will be charged the list price of the textbook(s), minus the 15 day extension fee.
You will be notified via email of these charges!
As a condition of your rental agreement, you hereby grant to CollegeBookRenter.com the right to access late and damage fees and charge them to your credit card account on file.
* In the event that any charges against the customer’s credit card are declined for any reason, CollegeBookRenter.com reserves the right to initiate criminal charges.
Textbook Is Returned to a Third Party Seller
If a textbook(s) rented through CollegeBookRenter.com is returned to a Third Party seller for any reason, then the Customer will be charged a $15.00 penalty fee.
If a textbook(s) rented through CollegeBookRenter.com is lost, damaged or stolen while being mailed to a Third Party seller, then customer will be charged the listed price of the textbook, minus previous rental fees.
You will be notified via email of these charges.
As a condition of your rental agreement, you hereby grant to CollegeBookRenter.com the right to access late and damage fees and charge them to your credit card account on file.
Textbook Buybacks
Any textbook(s) purchased by CollegeBookRenter.com from a Seller through the website will be subject to an extensive inspection before payment will be issued. The inspection will be based on the textbook(s) condition criteria that are listed on the "Sell Textbooks" portion of our site. Any received textbook(s) that fail to meet the criteria will be deemed "unusable" and no payment will be issued. CollegeBookRenter.com will not ship the damaged textbook(s) back to the Seller. The Seller will be contacted via email if the textbook(s) is deemed "unusable".
Refund Policy
At CollegeBookRenter.com, we understand that refunds will be requested from our customers for a number of reasons, to include dropped or canceled classes. Please contact Customer Service so the we can send you detailed instructions on how to return your book for a refund. Since we offer several difference rental period options, the length of time available to return your book varies. In general, 60-Day rentals must be returned within 15 days of the original order date to receive a refund. To qualify for this refund, your return package must be postmarked by UPS within 15 days of your orginal order date. 90-day and 130-Day rentals must be returned within 30 days of the original order date. To qualify for this refund, your return package must be postmarked by UPS within 30 days of your original order date. Customers will be issued a refund minus the cost of shipping.
